At RSOD, our dance exams are held through NZFATD and are designed to support and celebrate every dancer’s journey. With a structured syllabus across all levels, exams provide a meaningful opportunity for dancers to grow in confidence, refine their technique, and share their progress.

We offer two exam pathways to suit each dancer’s goals, commitment, and stage of development. Our Social pathway is perfect for those dancing for enjoyment, focusing on building confidence, musicality, and connection. Our Advanced pathway is designed for dancers wanting to be challenged further, with a stronger focus on technique, performance, and progression. Dancers are assessed within the pathway that best reflects their age, ability, and commitment, ensuring a positive and rewarding experience for all.

Exams are held mid-year and at the end of the year in our own studio, creating a familiar and supportive environment. We pride ourselves on making exam days feel encouraging rather than intimidating, with an open-room setting where our studio family come together to support one another, partner each other, and celebrate every achievement.

Our day finishes with a special prizegiving following the highest level exams, where all dancers are recognised and celebrated together.
